SHARING SATURDAY

Hello again, another week has flown bye with lots of ups & downs to encounter surrounding our family life.

My mid week post was a harsh one & very to the point. Thankfully the next day was a better one for me, with the help of my family & some periods of rest.

Both our daughter's are struggling with intense mood swings, anxiety, meltdowns & depression. With them both unable to attend school our days are long & very quiet.

The isolation we live in is required for us all to cope but at the same time it can be very frustrating & creates what they call the, "glass jar effect" on ourselves & the outside world.

But this week we have all felt part of a much wider community made possible by a very inspirational, Anna Kennedy & the story of her boys Patrick & Angelo who both have Autism. As an Autism Ambassador she has been awarded the OBE for her amazing work. Anna is also known for setting up schools to provide an improved education & other facilities for children affected by Asperger Syndrome & Autism. It was impossible to find anywhere to educate her own boys when they were younger & so she decided to start her own school for them. A strong & determind woman & my admiration for her is huge.
This week she has been part of an annual charity event here in the UK, "Comic Relief". She has been chosen to take part in the first " The Peoples Strictly" after being nominated by family & friends. The money raised will be used to support families living with Autism.

I was thrilled to see my blog has been posted onto her online facebook page yesterday evening. It was a good feeling for me as a mum with two daughters, my eldest diagnosed with Aspergers & my youngest under assessment very soon.
My eldest daughter cried when she watch Ann's interview & she said,"I had this little boy who was doing everything he was supposed to & then he just lost it". We could all relate & it felt like coming home for me. It was almost a feeling of meeting your own family, which sounds odd?!! But it was just nice to know she would understand our story too, without explanation. It was about being part of something that we can identify with as a family.
We shall be supporting Anna on March 11th 2015 when she dances her Charleston with her lovely partner Robin.

It will be our eldest daughter's 16th birthday in a couple of weeks. We have made plans to divide her special birthday into smaller chunks of celebrations, starting tomorrow with a day of shopping for all the things she loves! She has to know what she is unwrapping, as suprises can overwhelm her senses too quickly. We have also broken the day up into a manageable timetable with the shops we are going to & a stop for food. It will be a day of  just running with our plans & hoping for a magical & fun day for all three of us.
Our youngest daughter is spending time with her special Aunty cooking tuna & cheese melts, chocolate brownies, inbetween playing with her new furry friend, my sister's adorable three month old cat "Purrrfect".

"We are going to celebrate everyday moments"

Until next time, take care.

Thank you for reading my post today.
xx
